Goldfinches KS1 Years 1 and 2
A Day in the life of Goldfinches:
One of the best things about being in Goldfinches is that because we are the oldest children at Marsworth School, we get to be ‘monitors’ and help others in school with the registers, fruit, letters, playtime, cloakroom, computer and music for Collective Worship.
Each morning we do the register then Collective Worship where we light the candles (‘Jesus is the light of the world’) and reflect on our school values.
Each day we do phonics in our phonics groups. After phonics we do Maths or English. In maths we are lucky to have lots of practical tools to help us with counting and solving problems.
At playtime we have fruit and get to play outside. Our Monitors get us lovely toys from the shed to play with. If you are lonely don’t worry we have playtime buddies to help you.
After playtime, we do Maths/ English until lunch time. You can have a packed lunch or a school dinner. Hot dinners are yummy and our favourites are: fish, curry, pizza and hot dogs!
In the afternoons we do handwriting every day. Then on separate days we do science, P.E., PSHE, R.E., I.C.T., Art and Topic lessons.
In Science recently we had fun learning about light and dark and materials. In History we have learning about the history of the circus and have linked out art work with this by creating some abstract circus portraits.
On Wednesday mornings we go to Aqua Vale for swimming lessons. We all love Wednesdays!
